Challenger 300

The Challenger 300 is the aircraft that created the super midsize category, and it remains one of the most available options on a Palm Beach quote sheet. Eight to nine seats, 3,100 nautical miles and a flat-floor stand-up cabin, at a rate below its own successor.

Bombardier built the Challenger 300 with two Honeywell HTF7000 engines and a purpose-designed super midsize fuselage, cruising around 459 knots with 3,100 nautical miles of range. The cabin seats eight to nine with a flat floor and full stand-up height. Production ran from 2004 to 2014, when the Challenger 350 replaced it, so the charter fleet is large and well established.

Why the Challenger 300 Fits Palm Beach

Fleet size is the Challenger 300’s practical advantage in South Florida. It is one of the most numerous super midsize aircraft in charter service, so on a short-notice Palm Beach departure in peak season it is frequently the aircraft that is actually free when the newer types are booked.

At 3,100 nautical miles it covers what Palm Beach clients ask of a super midsize: Van Nuys at roughly 2,030 nautical miles, Aspen at about 1,540, Barbados at about 1,420, and the entire Northeast and Midwest. The 100-nautical-mile difference against a Challenger 350 rarely changes a trip out of South Florida.

The cabin interiors are older than a 350’s, and it shows in the finishes and the entertainment system rather than in the seats or the floor. Clients who want the newest interior should price the 350 or the 3500; clients who want the same envelope for less should look here first.

Vetting Behind Every Trip

Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:

  • FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
  • Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates.
  • Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
  • Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.
