Midsize Jets

Midsize jets are the point where a Palm Beach trip stops being a hop and becomes a flight you can work through. Six to ten seats, 1,810 to 2,950 nautical miles, stand-up cabins and an enclosed lavatory across the group. This is the default aircraft for the Northeast corridor in season.

Typical Aircraft

The Citation Excel and XLS is the most chartered midsize jet anywhere and the easiest to source in this market. The Hawker 750, 850XP and 900XP give you the flat floor the line is known for, and the 900XP stretches to 2,930 nautical miles. The Citation III and Citation VII are the quicker older option. The Learjet 55 and Learjet 60 seat up to ten. The Embraer Legacy 450 and the Gulfstream G150 sit at the top of the range here, and the Falcon 20 is the veteran that still carries eight to ten in comfort.

When Midsize Jets Fit the Palm Beach Trip

Teterboro (TEB) and White Plains (HPN) nonstop with every seat filled and the luggage on board, which is the single busiest thing this market does between November and April. Chicago through Midway (MDW) or O’Hare (ORD) for the Midwest second-home traffic. Midsize is also the smallest category most finance clients will put a working group on for a three-hour leg.

Vetting Behind Every Trip

Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:

  • FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
  • Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates.
  • Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
  • Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.

Charter Pricing Reference

Across the 11 midsize jets listed on this page, industry hourly rates run $4,000 to $6,500 per hour as of 9/2026. Each aircraft page carries its own rate. Actual quotes vary by operator, routing, positioning, and date.

Palm Beach Patterns We Plan Around

Palm Beach runs on a calendar, and we plan around it. The season opens in November and holds through April, with December to March the sharpest stretch: the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington from January into late March, the charity gala circuit through February, the Palm Beach International Boat Show in mid-March, and polo finals running into April. Those weeks book out early, and much of the aircraft that winters here is already committed to owners who are in town. Summer is the other half of the picture. Hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30 and peaks in September, and summer afternoons build convective weather along the coast most days, so morning departures are the clean window in those months. Your operator checks current weather and airspace notices before every departure, and we tell you early when a departure time looks tight.

Season pressure on midsize aircraft is about timing more than supply. Sunday evening northbound and Thursday afternoon southbound are the two slots everybody wants from December through March, and they are the two we ask clients to book earliest. A trip built around the Palm Beach International Boat Show in mid-March should be on the books well before show week.
