VIP airliners cover the Palm Beach groups that outgrow a heavy jet. Eight to one hundred and seventy-two seats depending on the aircraft and its interior, airliner cross-section cabins, and configurations running from a private apartment to full team seating. KDJT is the only field in Palm Beach County that takes aircraft this size.
Typical Aircraft
The Airbus ACJ319 and the Boeing Business Jet configure for eight to nineteen passengers with transatlantic range. The Airbus A318 Elite and the ACJ318 are the entry point. For headcount, the ACJ320 and ACJ321 seat up to twenty-five, the Airbus A320 up to fifty, the Boeing 757 VIP up to fifty with 4,000 nautical miles, and the McDonnell Douglas MD-83 up to one hundred and seventy-two. The Challenger 850 and the Bombardier CRJ-200 VIP give a smaller group an airliner-derived cabin at a lower hourly rate, while the A340-300, the A340-600 and the Boeing 787-9 VIP are the long-haul end of the list.
When VIP Airliners Fit the Palm Beach Trip
Corporate groups moving between Palm Beach and a national office, incentive travel, production and touring crews, and extended families traveling together at Thanksgiving or over the winter holidays. Once the passenger count passes nineteen the trip calls for an airliner-size aircraft, and it moves off FAR Part 135 onto FAR Part 121 or the foreign equivalent. Part 121 carries stricter crew and operating requirements than either FAR Part 91 or FAR Part 135, and we confirm which certificate applies before any aircraft this size goes in front of you.
Vetting Behind Every Trip
Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:
- FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
- Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates.
- Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
- Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.
Palm Beach Patterns We Plan Around
Palm Beach runs on a calendar, and we plan around it. The season opens in November and holds through April, with December to March the sharpest stretch: the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington from January into late March, the charity gala circuit through February, the Palm Beach International Boat Show in mid-March, and polo finals running into April. Those weeks book out early, and much of the aircraft that winters here is already committed to owners who are in town. Summer is the other half of the picture. Hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30 and peaks in September, and summer afternoons build convective weather along the coast most days, so morning departures are the clean window in those months. Your operator checks current weather and airspace notices before every departure, and we tell you early when a departure time looks tight.
Aircraft this size are not based in Palm Beach, so nearly every trip involves positioning one in, and that lead time is the part clients underestimate during season. From December through March, when KDJT is at its busiest, ground handling for an aircraft this size needs arranging well ahead of the date. We tell you at quote stage what the positioning legs add to the trip.
