Gulfstream 4 / IV / SP / 400 / 450

The Gulfstream IV family is the workhorse heavy jet of the Palm Beach season, and it is the aircraft most often quoted when a full household or a board party moves between KDJT and the Northeast with real baggage on board. Fourteen to sixteen seats and roughly 4,220 nautical miles of range cover the whole domestic feeder network into West Palm Beach and reach most of South America nonstop.

Gulfstream launched the GIV in 1985 with two Rolls-Royce Tay 611-8 turbofans and a new wing, replacing the GIII airframe. The IV-SP followed in 1992 with more range and payload, and Gulfstream later renamed the updated versions G400 and G450. Cabins seat 14 to 16, the G450 carries the PlaneView flight deck, and the aft baggage compartment is large and reachable in flight. Full specifications for the Gulfstream IV are published by Gulfstream Aerospace.

Why the Gulfstream IV Fits Palm Beach

Teterboro to West Palm Beach is roughly 900 nautical miles and carries more private traffic than any other domestic route into Palm Beach County. A G450 flies it with every seat filled, the hold full and fuel still in reserve, which is why so many November season arrivals and April departures end up on this type.

Palm Beach has a large Brazilian, Venezuelan and Colombian community, and the Gulfstream IV covers the legs they ask about. Bogota sits at roughly 1,365 nautical miles from KDJT and Lima at roughly 2,330, both comfortable nonstop, and Sao Paulo at roughly 3,585 nautical miles is inside the book range with a sensible payload.

Owners who split the winter between the island and a second house fly Aspen at roughly 1,535 nautical miles or Van Nuys at roughly 2,025 nautical miles, both single legs for a G450. Confirm with the operator that the aircraft and crew are approved for Aspen before the January to March ski weeks fill up.

Vetting Behind Every Trip

Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:

  • FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
  • Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates.
  • Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
  • Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.

Charter Pricing Reference

Industry hourly rates for the Gulfstream IV run $7,500 to $10,000 per hour as of 9/2026. Actual quotes vary by operator, routing, positioning, and date.

Gulfstream IV charter runs roughly $7,500 to $10,000 per hour as of 9/2026, and most of that spread is variant. A late G450 sits at the top of the range and earlier IV and IV-SP aircraft below it, so ask which airframe is in the quote before you compare two numbers.
