Sikorsky S-76

The Sikorsky S-76 is the executive twin of the South Florida helicopter fleet, and in Palm Beach it is the aircraft chosen when the party runs to six or eight, the route leaves the coastline, or the client wants a proper corporate cabin with air conditioning that still works sitting on the ramp in August.

Sikorsky designed the S-76 from the start as a civil transport, with two turbine engines, retractable gear and a cabin for six to eight. Cruise is around 155 knots and range roughly 411 nautical miles. Decades of offshore oil and corporate service sit behind the type, and its two engines and instrument flight deck give it dispatch reliability in weather that keeps lighter singles on the ground.

Why the Sikorsky S-76 Fits Palm Beach

Overwater legs. The S-76 built its record carrying crews offshore, so it is the type operators put on routes that leave the beach behind, whether that is a run out to a yacht or a trip down the Keys.

Eight-seat corporate moves. A board group landing at KDJT and continuing to Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale or Opa-locka fits into one S-76 where it would take two Bell 407s, and the cabin is quiet enough to keep the conversation going.

Summer weather days. Afternoon thunderstorms are routine here from June through September, and the S-76’s instrument capability and second engine mean a trip that a lighter helicopter would postpone can often still go.

Vetting Behind Every Trip

Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:

  • FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
  • Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates.
  • Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
  • Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.

Charter Pricing Reference

Industry hourly rates for the Sikorsky S-76 run $3,500 to $5,000 per hour as of 9/2026. Actual quotes vary by operator, routing, positioning, and date.

Figure $3,500 to $5,000 per hour as of 9/2026, the top of the Palm Beach helicopter range. It prices well above a single-turbine six-seater, and that difference buys the second engine, the instrument capability and the cabin.
