Global 5500

The Global 5500 is the re-engined 5000, and for Palm Beach clients it buys roughly 700 more nautical miles and noticeably lower fuel burn on the same cabin. Roughly 5,900 nautical miles of range from KDJT puts Zurich, Milan and Tel Aviv inside a single leg.

Bombardier fitted Rolls-Royce Pearl 15 engines and a revised wing to the Global 5000 airframe to create the 5500, which entered service in 2019. Thirteen to sixteen seats, roughly 5,900 nautical miles of range and Mach 0.85 cruise, with the Nuage seat and a lower cabin altitude than the aircraft it replaced.

Why the Global 5500 Fits Palm Beach

Wellington’s international horse owners. The Winter Equestrian Festival runs January into late March and brings European and Latin American owners to Palm Beach County for weeks at a time. Zurich at roughly 4,190 nautical miles, Milan at roughly 4,235 and Geneva at roughly 4,120 are all nonstop from KDJT, which lets an owner fly in for a weekend of competition and go home without a stop.

Tel Aviv at roughly 5,690 nautical miles is within range, and it is a route that comes up with Palm Beach and Boca Raton families more than most brokers expect.

Fuel burn on the season’s routine legs. A 5500 running Palm Beach to Teterboro twice a week through the winter burns measurably less than the older Globals doing the same schedule, and on a long charter contract that shows up in the total.

Vetting Behind Every Trip

Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:

  • FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
  • Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates.
  • Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
  • Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.
